² Abraham looked up^(A) and saw three men^(B) standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground.^(C)

Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed

19 The two angels^(A) arrived at Sodom^(B) in the evening, and Lot^(C) was sitting in the gateway of the city.^(D) When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.^(E)

² “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet^(A) and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”

“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”^(B)

⁷ Then Abraham rose and bowed down before the people of the land, the Hittites.

³ He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground^(A) seven times^(B) as he approached his brother.

¹⁰ When he told his father as well as his brothers,^(A) his father rebuked^(B) him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?”^(C)

⁴³ He had him ride in a chariot^(A) as his second-in-command,^[a](B) and people shouted before him, “Make way^[b]!”^(C) Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.^(D)
